Athletics day

On Friday me and my school did athletic day which involved a lot of activities. The best thing was we had to dress in our house colors, my house was Owairaka so I had to dress up in blue.

At 9:15 we went downstairs and we saw everyone sitting on the courts under the shade in our house lines. Our first activity was the obstacle course. My team kept cheating except for 2 of my friends in Piwakawaka it was fun though.

After  2 more activities it was relay races. My group was only 2 other girls. Sadly we lost but we did well I think. After one more activity we did was face painting, when we got there I let Tynesha paint my face. I was told by one of my classmates that I look girly. 

After all the other activities it was time for the fun run. We started from the courts and ran, I was running so slow though since I was tired. It felt like hours when I was running I ran 6 laps. Later when everything was done I felt exhausted but I felt proud.

My fantastic time at Tui ridge camp!

We made it! On Monday we went to Tui Ridge camp, most of the year fives and sixes went to camp. I felt so tired since the bus ride was hours long but it was worth it since we made it! I was so excited when we made it.

After waiting so long I hopped off the bus with everyone else. After unpacking everything we ate lunch and it tasted alright I guess. After doing that we got put into groups and I was in group 3, Cephas’ dad/Brian’s group. First, my group did the flying fox and it was high and scary and so crazy and awesome too! You could say it was my favourite.

After the other activities, it became night and it was time for our night walk when Whaea Ocea let me share a story. My 3 friends were in it: Ofa, Wycliffe and Harry. They all laughed at my story, after 2 more stories we went up the mountain and it was scary but cool!It was scary when we walked up the mountain but I was brave! Mostly I was brave because I had to be I had no flash light. We followed a rope and made it to the end me and my friend went the wrong way but we ended up making our way through it.

The next day we did slingshot paintball, it was group 3 against group 4. Later after 1 game, we played Capture the Flag. The people in my team were Ofa, Ray, Aiesi, Caleb, Tynesha, Viola, Junior, and Cephas. Sadly after 2 rounds, my team kept losing. I was still happy after those games because at least we tried.

Overall my camp experience was amazing and super fantastic!

My holiday

In the holidays I hung out with my friend Robby. We would always go to the center on Mondays and Thursdays. We would usually always go there for the food and bingo. On Monday there was a free vegetarian dinner it would always have free raro and sometimes we would see my other 2 friends Ray and Sam. On Thursdays there was bingo and a free dinner i would always win bingo. On Thursdays and Mondays there would be yummy delicious desserts like cake and stuff it was tasty. Sometimes my family would come but it was only sometimes. What I really love about the Thursday free dinners is that it has free milo but barely any sugar so we would always add sugar . After having fun at the free dinners Robby would drop me off at home.

The mystery experiment

On Monday me and Kea did an experiment. First, we got into groups. My group turned out to be Saarah and Ezekiel and lastly Talia. After that, we went to our table and John gave us our first cup. I put my hand into the cup and I felt something sticky it was slimy gooey and smooth after all of us touched it we looked inside and it turned out to be a type of leaf.I thought to myself and said “well that’s a surprise”.Our group got our next cup and I put my hand in it first it was another thing that was smooth and it was kinda wet.When Talia put her hand in it she said “guys I think its a wipe ” we all looked inside and to our surprise it was a wipe.Talia took the wipe and rubbed it on her face and she said it felt nice and then she used it to fake that she was sick and I laughed.John did one more swap before we put our hand in the cup Jordan ran over and told us not to put our hands inside because there was candy but we didn’t care I nearly put my hand inside. But just before I put my hand in the cup Jordan said the boys group put the candy in there mouths so I stopped and gave the cup to the boys group and then I went back to my group. Later after we were done we cleaned up and everyone headed back to the mat.

The purple cabbage experiment

On Monday me and kea did an experiment.

First we got into groups my group was Ezekiel and Tynesha and Ali. After we got into groups, we were given 3 cups and a pen and paper (with the instructions) and a part where we write our productions. Me and my group went to a table.

Later after we waited Miss Whea Ocea poured the cabbage liquid into our 3 cups. After that Ezekiel got a small cup of borax and he poured it into the cabbage liquid after he mixed the borax with the cabbage juice it turned into like a turquoise which was a neutral. We did the next cup and Tynesha put the vinegar in the second cup and it turned hot pink witch was an acidic . For the last cup I put hand sanitizer it turned into basic it was a light green. After that Ali poured 2 of the cups into 1 and it turned back into a neutral cause it turned dark purple again. After cleaning our mess we went to handwriting.

The Invisible Ink Experiment

Today I made invisible ink. First Miss Ashley gave us an exemplar of what it would look like. Then we grabbed the equipment (cotton buds, grape juice, baking soda and a cup of water).  Next after that we got into groups of 4 or 3 my group was Penitoni and Ezekiel. We grabbed 3 pieces of paper for each person and 1 paper cup.

When we got to our table Miss  Ashley gave my group some cotton buds they were for writing our message. After that Ezekiel filled our cup halfway with water. Next Miss Ashley put an equal amount of baking soda in our cup that had water. After that Miss Ashley gave us another cup and put grape juice in it. I looked at it and it was so tempting to drink but I resisted. We dipped one of the cotton buds into the water and then drew the message. Lastly, when we were done doing the message the water started to evaporate, leaving the hidden message behind.

After doing the message we had to wait for it to dry. When it finally dried we got a paintbrush and dipped it into the grape juice. And then used the paintbrush to reveal the message and it became visible.It felt mysterious as it disappeared

Duffy Trip

“Come on Owairaka” that’s what my teacher Ms. Ashley said. We headed outside and went to the bus. Ms Ashley counted all of us and there were 30 of us. While we were on the bus, I got bored on our way there. when we got there we hopped off the bus and thanked the bus driver. Before we went inside we met the mascot he was singing, dancing, waving, and doing the mana wave. When we got inside we met Uncle Reese. Later there were guests and they talked a bit about themselves. After they were done talking there was a dance battle. My friend Tapuaki went up and started dancing . After the show he sadly lost . Later after that we sang the Duffy song. After singing that we went out. And uncle Reese did the mana wave and we did the mana wave back. We left and we got a gift we got a few pens, some pencils/coloring pencils, 2 books, and chips. And later when we went outside we took a picture outside. Then we went to the bus and went back to school.

For Cook island language week  I partnered up with Raven. And we made a tour guide about the Cook islands

WALKING WATER

Me and my class did an experiment. Our teacher Mrs Pondicherry told us to get into groups of 3 or 4 or 5. The first thing you have to do is grab 4 clear plastic cups, food coloring, a spoon and four paper towels. The second thing to do is fill all 4 plastic cups halfway full of water. After you do that you add 2 drops of different colors by using the food coloring, so that  there is one red cup, one blue cup, one yellow cup and one green cup. When that’s done you use the spoon to mix the colours into the water. Lastly we folded the paper towels halfway and put each end into a separate cup, so that the cups are linked together in a row. After doing that the coloured water travels up to the middle of the paper towel. It was so saldistfyeing while I was watching it travel. After a while it stoped and I looked at everyone else’s . And then we had to clean up and I wanted to clean the cups and I mixed the colours. When I mixed blue and red it became a dark purple it was so pretty.After cleaning we all headed back to the             bnv mat.
